Hail to this dude for saying it.

These so-called companies (*you know who you are*) send out these type of “contests” with promises of free advertising of your work/a trip to wherever BUT also with the premise that once submitted, Company A holds all rights to your work, the commisions that go to your work, blah blah).

At least this guy was sarcastic though he made a lot of sense and the company still managed to be civil by replying to him with a polite letter.

Artists and writers take time and effort to make something extraordinary that they deserve compensation and intellectual rights to their hard work.

JUST BECAUSE IT’S FREELANCE DOESN’T MEAN IT’S FREE.

I write and draw and though I am in no way in the ranks of professional, I take pride in my work knowing that I have talent and would like to keep my stuff as my stuff. Should I get noticed and get paid for it would be awesome, but then again, I do this as a hobby. And even I feel insulted/appalled/bemused (yes, it’s another term for bewildered/confused) by the notion of these companies thinking that it’s automatically theirs for free, disregarding the minutes/hours an artist/writer has come up with an idea or thinking that just because it’s art, people have other jobs to support themselves so it really doesn’t matter anyway 😡.

Now try and imagine how professionals feel when companies belittle that notion thinking that it’s only a hobby.

Somewhatunconscious does cross-overs yet again. Took a break from the charcoal pencils and went aquarelle-in-mixed-media instead:

“Dessine-moi un mouton!”

As Nick Bantock (author of the Griffin & Sabine series, one of my fave fantasy love letter book collections) once said:
"When looking at old piece of your work, don’t dismiss it right away. Take time to look at it carefully and figure out exactly what parts aren’t working and why. The idea is not to go back and physically correct it, but to train your eye to look for specific weaknesses that it may be avoided in the future."

In this case, I drew Kyou Usui (Black Bird Manga) a few months back. I wasn’t used to drawing manga then so I knew the eyes needed improvement, but I was just chipper to draw a hottie like Kyou so I left it. Fast forward to present day, because I bought more materials and have more practice drawing bishonens and got better with shading, I decided to give Kyou-sama an upgrade using charcoal pencils and this is the final product. 😁

❤️❤️❤️

Loved using SignYouth woodless charcoal pencils so much, I just *had* to do a repeat performance with Voltage Inc’s Weekend Appreciation Guy Kiyoto Makimura.

I think I might have made the boi proud (^-^)

Out of the Voltage boys, Soryu Oh is the hardest to draw IMHO. I dunno if it’s because of technicalities with his eyes and perfect chin or because I like him too darn much 😂 (haha, prolly both).

anyway, here’s a cross over drawing of Mr Oh as Will Herondale from the Infernal Devices series. The tattoos are just me winging it, if you noticed, Soryu’s name is written in Hiragana and Katakana form (I’ll leave you to guess where 😘)

enjoy, ladies!! 💋

I’ve always admired high fashion art from the likes of Jordi Labanda and Hayden Williams. And out of the Voltage Otome characters, the one that has haute couture modeling potential is Kaoru Kirishima from OTBS. So I made use of his CG and inserted a model (kinda like a female type Kaoru) and threw in a coat that has a this deconstructed Burberry/ Comme de Garçons feel. ❤️ Hope you like it. Enjoy!! ❤️

More Judith McNaught turned Voltage Inc cross-overs. Jordan Townsende, the Duke of Hawthorne’s manga depiction was inspired from Yukinojo (EITM, don’t blame me I wanted to draw a bishonen with long purple hair so badly 💗) but Edward Elric (Full Metal Alchemist) type of long hair and is purple like the Liebens from the Be My Princess series. He kinda reminds me of Yoshitsune Minamoto from the Solmare Shall We Date: Destiny Ninja series since he and Yukinojo sorta have the same long-ish hair.

Anyhoo, this drawing is a CG of sorts taken from an excerpt of the book:
“What are you looking at?” Jordan demanded finally, watching her.
She lifted her arm and pointed to the sky in the southeast.
“Right there—that cloud. What do you see when you look at it?”

“A fat cloud.”

“What else?”

He was quiet for a moment studying the sky. “Five more fat clouds and three thin ones.”
